The TrueColor visual is not available at this color depth on this system. If you have such system, think of using it at its full power. I have no access to SGI Octane, so I had no idea how to change the color depth. I would like to thank Mr. Randal R. Ketchem for contributing the answer to this question.

Edit /usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers and change the argument list passed to /usr/bin/X11/X.

e.g.
To change the default configuration from the 8-bit pseudomap visual to the 24-bit TrueColor visual, change the single line:
:0 secure /usr/bin/X11/X -bs -nobitscale -c -pseudomap 4sight -solidroot sgilightblue -cursorFG red -cursorBG white

to a single line with:
:0 secure /usr/bin/X11/X -bs -nobitscale -c -class TrueColor -depth 24 -solidroot sgilightblue -cursorFG red -cursorBG white
