monica-3.7-7mdv2011.0.i586.rpm

    Patch by Philip Heuer:
This patch fixes several compilation issues with
gcc v4.3. Two additional include statements were
required, and the exit() calls needed to be changed
to __builtin_exit(). This patch also fixes several
    deprecation warnings.

accounted for Slackware's inittab value of 4
  for graphical logon.

  Here is an extended changelog:

Stuck in a global string to take command for
xgamma, in case ATI's prop. driver is present.

Redesigned the color section of Monica, hoping to
make color tweaking easier. The old "ramps" just
didn't lend themselves to fine adjustments :)

I also put in lots of extended tooltips and
updated the "info" to include a brief, but
  I feel useful, How To.

I made buttons on the end of the slider
adjusters with which to fine-tune the gamma.
They move in increments of .01.

Tweaked the scaling of the widgets, resizing
what is useful (the sliders) but not all the rest.
Other controls merely stretch out or reposition
  like before.

The color patches I tested as carefully as I could.
If anyone finds any discrepencies, please let me
know. The "Black Point" has an inset of 7%...
which would fit into a 15-step ramp. Not terribly
precise, but I thought it was the best compromise,
knowing many folks who need monitor calibration do
so because their monitor is losing some punch, and
most of us have to put up with more glare and
smearing, etc. than is optimal. I know my monitor is
fairly good, but I had trouble seeing 5% during the
day. So if I erred a bit, it was on the side of
  caution.
If you cannot see the 7% patch in the black square,
even when the ambient light is low, then leave the
brightness up and just go from there.
Maybe save up for a new monitor :)
