all index operations need to iterate over the UTF-8 data. Use <a class="elRef" href="http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/libstdc++/latest-doxygen/a00971.html#abe7a9a9a314d1ccbcfdd361b22e1e960">std::advance()</a> to move to a certain position.
