A.2 gshhs: GSHHS data extractor</A>

This package contains <A NAME="tex2html1617"
  HREF="../man/gshhs.html"><I><B>gshhs</B></I></A><A NAME="28643"></A> which you can use to extract
shoreline polygons from the Global Self-consistent Hierarchical High-resolution
Shorelines (GSHHS) available separately from <A NAME="tex2html1618"
  HREF="http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/shorelines/gshhs.html">NGDC</A>
or the <A NAME="tex2html1619"
  HREF="http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/wessel/gshhs/gshhs.html">GSHHS home page</A>
(GSHHS is the polygon data base from which
the <A NAME="tex2html1620"
  HREF="http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu"><B>GMT</B></A> coastlines derive).  It also contains <A NAME="tex2html1621"
  HREF="../man/gshhs_dp.html"><I><B>gshhs_dp</B></I></A><A NAME="28651"></A>
for cleverly decimating a shoreline, and <A NAME="tex2html1622"
  HREF="../man/gshhstograss.html"><I><B>gshhstograss</B></I></A><A NAME="28656"></A> to convert shoreline
segments to the GRASS database format; the latter program is maintained by
Simon Cox<A NAME="tex2html1616"
  HREF="footnode.html#foot28530"><SUP>A.1</SUP></A>.
