From: Neil Horman <nhorman@redhat.com> Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2007 13:37:31 -0400 Subject: [misc] add vmcoreinfo support to kernel Message-id: 20070918173731.GC21188@hmsendeavour.rdu.redhat.com O-Subject: [RHEL 5.2 PATCH] add vmcoreinfo support to kernel Bugzilla: 253850 Hey - This is a backport of an upstream patch that recently went into -mm. It adds support for /sys/kernel/vmcoreinfo, which provides symbol information in the running kernel for use by the makedumpfile dump filtering program. Inclusion of this patch provides makedumpfile with the ability to dynamically filter a vmcore without the aid of a configuration file, which otherwise requires the installation of a kernel-debuginfo package on the dumping system. Tested by me on x86_64 successfully. Resolves bz 253850 Regards Neil Acked-by: Dave Anderson <anderson@redhat.com> --- arch/i386/kernel/machine_kexec.c | 12 +++ arch/ia64/kernel/machine_kexec.c | 30 ++++++ arch/ia64/mm/discontig.c | 2 +- arch/x86_64/kernel/machine_kexec.c | 9 ++ include/asm-ia64/numa.h | 1 + include/asm-x86_64/mach-xen/asm/pgtable.h | 2 +- include/asm-x86_64/pgtable.h | 2 +- include/linux/kexec.h | 34 +++++++ include/linux/utsname.h | 8 ++ init/version.c | 16 ++++ kernel/kexec.c | 141 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ kernel/ksysfs.c | 10 ++ 12 files changed, 264 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) diff --git a/arch/i386/kernel/machine_kexec.c b/arch/i386/kernel/machine_kexec.c index d3979a6..68dce1a 100644 --- a/arch/i386/kernel/machine_kexec.c +++ b/arch/i386/kernel/machine_kexec.c @@ -92,6 +92,18 @@ void machine_kexec_cleanup(struct kimage *image) { } + +void arch_crash_save_vmcoreinfo(void) +{ +#ifdef CONFIG_ARCH_DISCONTIGMEM_ENABLE + SYMBOL(node_data);
